Endotoxin is measured in settled dust or air samples by specialty labs. Reference ranges are less standardized than fungal metrics, so results are best interpreted comparatively — against other areas of the building, against post-cleaning retests — rather than against a universal threshold.
Remediation implications
The response is familiar: find and eliminate the bacterial moisture niche, remove materials that cannot be cleaned, and execute fine-particle cleaning of the affected zones. Sewage-affected porous materials in particular should be removed rather than treated. Humidifiers, condensate systems, and drain lines deserve inspection and cleaning in any building with elevated results.

Is endotoxin testing necessary for every assessment?
